Few projects dare to show their most naive version. This site documents in the changelog what falls and why; this page applies that same principle to the history of the idea itself. Below is the first written form of the Effortless Effect, from around 2020, unedited. Next to it, each time, what has become of it. The photos of the time have been lost; the captions are preserved as empty frames, museum labels for vanished images.
"While there have been attempts, we think we have figured out something simple yet important. Take a look at a few human made objects. It's explainable by saying it is based on effortless effect. What we are trying to say, is that every human made object is made for efficient reasons."
"A piece of paper is efficient for the storage of information. A lighter is an efficient tool for making a fire. A cup is efficient for transporting liquids and to drink a specific amount of liquid. Cars for transport, roads for traffic. Buttons. Smartphones for communication. The way you open a can. Anything."

"You get the point, any human made object can be explained with it being 'based on effortless effect'. This is important to understand. Take a moment to accept your surroundings."
"Entertainment is an efficient way for experiencing emotion."
What survived: the on-ramp. Starting at a cup instead of at the big bang is still the gentlest route into the framework, and the line about entertainment still lands.
What fell: objects as evidence. "Every object can be explained as effortless effect" is always true per case and precisely therefore cheap as proof; that is exactly the lesson of "The detour walker" card on the philosophy page. Human objects and choices are now the framework's interpretive lens; the testable core moved to the structure: derived theorems, counting laws, measured spectra.
"We would like to take it up a notch now. Here we go. Everything is based on effortless effect. Yes, everything. Including the growth of plants, growing towards the light. The big bang, an effortless effect from one dense point."
"Nothing does not exist, therefore we think it must be a point of 'everything'."
"Why are bananas curved? Because they grow towards the light that they need. This is a process based on effortless effect. In other words, energy always seeks the easiest route. We can also see the social nature of this effect: birds flying together, ants intuitively operating together."

"This is quite a statement, and we want you to think critically about the said statement and try to question nature."
The hidden diamond: that one passing line, "nothing does not exist, therefore it must be a point of everything", is the embryo of the zero-point: worked out years later into the ground state that is maximally unstable and permanently stable at once, with "Nothingness Does Not Exist" as the first hard elimination. The deepest building block of the framework was there from day one, hidden between two photo captions.
Addendum (August 2026), three formal mirrors: the aside turned out to be three theorems at once. In the coding the measure runs on, every universe is a bitstring and the empty string is a prefix of all strings: zero information makes no distinctions, so the zero point coincides with everything. In the effort-effect plane every universe is a ray and all rays pass through the origin, which itself has no efficiency: the extremes (100% and 0%) touch exactly there. And the heaviest point of the distribution (P = e⁰ = 1) carries exactly zero bits of content: maximal weight is empty certainty, and everything that exists lives in between. "A point of everything and nothing at the same time": in 2020 an aside, in 2026 three properties of the root of the description tree. And the same look back gave the two primal sentences each their own floor: "nothing does not exist" is a-local (existence layer, no address), "everything is based on effortless effect" is local (the weighing per step, at every scale); see the philosophy page.
What was refined: "everything, yes everything" as one flat claim became the layer discipline ("Both-And, With an Address"): hard for physics (the least-action principle is now derived from three axioms), a lens for behaviour, and the lightning-banana-big-bang equation was honestly split: those phenomena share a form, not a literal law. The invitation to the reader to be critical has meanwhile become its own page: Testing & Limits.
"What seems to be undeniable, is that efficiency itself is in a constant progression, or at a progressive constant, a universal law."
"You're lazy! Well, after learning that anything is based on effortless effect, it's actually quite alright to be lazy minded. We humans are the best embodiment of efficiency itself on earth. Otherwise we wouldn't have had machines, cars, buttons, devices, instruments. But stay healthy."
— THAT WAS IT (W.I.P.)
"A universal law" became a theorem. The hunch that efficiency is a universal law received its precise form: from three nearly irrefusable axioms follows, forcibly, P = e−S (Cauchy, 1821), and from it the principle of least action: not assumed but derived. The leap from feeling to theorem is exactly what the mathematics page does.
And the wink? Partly preserved (the plasma ball, the detour walker) and partly honestly buried: "humans are the best embodiment of efficiency" is now out of scope, and laziness has gained a more precise friend: effort is friction between a new goal and an old riverbed, and the law describes the riverbed without forbidding the digging. The "stay healthy" we keep. That was good advice.
±2016 one idea, carried for ten years: everything flows like water
±2020 this document: cups, bananas, "everything, yes everything"
v0.9 first formulas — and the first retractions (α formula dropped)
v0.10 rigour: theorems, labels, proofs behind every claim
v0.13 the three-layer: everything exists, weight differs, "this" speaks from within
v0.14 the reductions: αK = ln 2 forced, convergence proven (Kraft)
v0.17 the first measured eigenvalues on the Fermat K3 ever —
and the first window felled by the framework's own computation (F2 → F2′)
The 2020 document said: everything seeks the easiest way. Six years later the site can say what it costs to make that true: every claim a label, every retraction documented, every number measured or honestly open. The intuition survived the whole journey: that is what a good intuition does. And the journey changed it from something you believe into something you can test: that is what a good journey does.
